Abstarct: Chalpo River with a length of nearly 25 kilometers is located in the northwest of Koh Sorkh city, which originates from the eastern heights of the region and after passing through the nearby villages, it enters the Kal Shur River. According to the division of the sedimentary zone of Iran, the studied area is located in the extreme northeast of the central Iran zone. Physiographic studies of this basin have been done using maps drawn in GIS software environment. The geomorphology of the basin is also examined in terms of erosion and sedimentation, and forms of erosion such as channels, furrows, typhoon and landslides are observed. In order to check the sedimentary parameters, 20 sediment samples were taken from the main river channel and by analyzing these samples, sorting, skewness and kurtosis were calculated, baxsed on which weak to very weak sorting, positive skewness and moderate to wide kurtosis were detected. Sedimentological studies along the Chalpo River catchment area show sediment continuity along this river and most of the sediments are in the range of fine gravel and sand. Investigation of sedimentary facies shows that there are three types of facies in this river, including gravelly (Gp, Gh, Gcm and Gmm), sandy (Sh) and sandy (Fl and Fm) facies. The presence of longitudinal bars, low thickness of fine-grained sediments and high thickness of coarse-grained sediments, the proposed sedimentary model for Chalpo River is a type of sedimentary model of a shallow braided river with gravel bed and low sinuosity. Geochemical analysis of 10 samples of Chalpo river sediments and data plot on binary diagrams, spider diagram and triangular diagram show that most of Chalpo river sediment samples are near the range of intermediate volcanic source rocks and mafic to ultramafic source rocks and they are derived from source rocks that have had a low amount of weathering and are mostly located in the oceanic arc islands tectonic settings.
